Celtic Defense Again Strong in 3-2 Win over Gunners
While missing key players from the offensive side of the ball, the defense stood firm and created enough offense to strike 3 times and subdue the younger and quicker Gunners.  Walt Mason had a strong game in goal with most everyone turning in strong performances.

NEXT MATCH, TUESDAY JULY 1 VS NEWCASTLE @ 8:30
Celtic Busts Out of Slump 7-0
Nice romp over old foes Caliente 7-0 to put them back in their place after Caliente ended ACFC's season in overtime in the tournament semifinals last Spring.

NEXT GAME TUESDAY JUNE 24 VS GUNNERS @ 8:30pm
Marx Hat Trick Saves Night for Celtic
With New Castle snagging an early 1-0 lead, Celtic found themselves playing a man down after T-Bone Spencer's red card approximately 10 minutes into the first half for intentionally handling the ball in the penalty box.  Inspired by Keeper Mason's baiting save of the subsequent PK shot, Celtic fought throughout the night to bring the score level.  Celtic never led but had many opportunities to.  Center Travis Marx's third and final goal, the second of 2 headers,  scored in stoppage time, brought the final score level to 3-3. The goal of the night was the brillant left-footed one-touch shot Travis crafted to tie the score 2-2.  ACFC now stands with no wins, no losses, and 2 draws.

NEXT GAME TUESDAY JUNE 17 AT 7:30 VS BAFC
Injuries and a Determined Caliente Too Much to Overcome
Celtic gets bounced from the playoffs by a Caliente team tired of losing to the Rockets.  Injuries to several key players left ACFC down to only one substitute while several other players hobbled their way through the match that took regulation and 2 overtimes to determine the winner.  It was the first time that Caliente has ever beaten the Rockets in either regular season or playoffs.

Foundation Spoils Rockets Perfect Season
Foundation wins 3-1 in the season finale to split the season series with the Rockets, but must settle for 2nd place in tournament.

Celtic Rockets Rout Foundation 5-2 for 5th Regular Season Title
After jumping out to an early lead, the Rockets made their 5-0 half-time lead stand-up for a 5-2 victory and their fifth regular season championship in six seasons of play.  The win clinches first place going into next week's league tournament and a 9pm Tuesday April 22nd Playoff game with the winner of the Caliente vs Smokin'Aces game being played at 7pm the same night.  Championship game will be held at 7:30pm Friday April 25th.

Rockets win 6-1 in storm-shortened match with Caliente
With score at 6-1 at half-time, the ref called the game official and sent the teams home before the lightning and rain filled the stadium.

Rockets bounce Caliente 6-2
ACFC started slow but finished with a flurry in a 6-2 win that solidifies their hold on first place.  The Celtic win (15 points) combined with the Foundation's first loss of the year, a 7-4 whipping by the 3rd place Irish Blast (9 points), moves them further out in front of the 2nd place Foundation (10 points).

Celtic takes solid 5-2 win from rematch with Irish Blast
With several starters arriving late, the "Silver Fox" made his first start of the season at the point, and if only for a short while we can think about what once was...  Once the defense arrived and got settled in, the offense quit rushing and began to punish the opponents routinely until settling on a 3-1 halftime lead.  With continued solid play throughout, the Rockets scored 2 more before allowing the Blast to score the final meaningless goal late in the match.

Solid Defense Leads to 4-1 Win over Irish Blast
With goals being scarce, Rockets play outstanding defense to shut down IB and take over early lead in Spring League standings.

Celtic Rockets Romp 8-0 Over Smokin Aces
With a bit of a bubbling start, the home side "Hoops" missed numerous opportunities to scratch the board early.  The pace remained fierce and once the first goal by John Hussey hit the back of the net, the Hoops were off and running and didn't let up until having a 7-0 lead at halftime while playing a man down for the last 10 minutes of the half.  The scoring was closed out midway thru the second stanza when keeper Walt Mason, after switching field postions with AJ Marceau, took a nice thru-ball pass and after deftly manuevering around one defender, spritely drilled the shot past the Smokin" Aces' keeper to close out the win early by the league "Mercy Rule" of being up by 8 goals.

Rockets Blast Off in Opener 9-2
The ACFC Rockets kicked off their Spring 08 season with a thorough 9-2 thrashing over keeper-challenged Caliente. With new man AJ Marceau leading the way, the "Hoops" started strong and finished strong with all players contributing in one way or another.
Next game - Friday Mar 7th, 8:30pm against returning champions Foundation "United".
