Article Date: Jan 22
This
means that in order to play on the age 12/13 team, you must be age 13 or
younger on March 1, 2010. Kids who are age 14 before March 1, 2010 are
too old for this team and would play on the age 14/15 team. Kids who turn age 14 on March 2nd or
later are able to play on this team. The
March 1st date is the same for our 10/11 year old team. Kids
who are still age 11 on March 1st, 2010 can play on our 10/11 squad,
even if they turn age 12 in March, April, May or June. The March 1st date is also the same for our 14/15 year old team. Kids who are still age 15 on March 1st, 2010 can play on our 14/15 squad, even if they turn age 16 in March, April, May or June. We
will also look at the possibility of older 9 year olds playing on the 10/11
team. Also note that there are NO weight limitations in Arena
Football. This is a select, age only league. This
is a spring football season and practices will start in February and games run
through mid-May. We will have approximately 2 practices a week (one
outdoors and one indoors). Games will be played on Saturdays starting in
March. All games are played indoors in arena style stadiums. Kids
are invited to come and play even if they are in Lacrosse, Baseball, Soccer, etc.,
however; remember that this is SELECT football and there is no guarantee to
playing time and if someone is missing a lot of practices to play another
sport, that most likely will dent their game playing time. We
will have tryouts at the RHS Football Field on: 1. Sunday Jan 31st
3 to 4 PM 2. Wednesday Feb 3rd
3-4 PM We
have set up 2 tryout dates to accommodate everyone. Please come dressed
for outdoors. There will be no real contact drills in the tryouts, but we
will be running many football drills. All are welcome to tryout. In
terms of our tryouts, it is our hope that we do not have to cut anyone.
However, we can only take up to 24 players for each team (16 man roster with 8
man development squad). So we hope we see all 10 thru 13 year olds who
want to play football come and try out. We
are able to keep our costs down to $300 per player (which is pretty
good for a 4 month select program). This would cover the whole season
(games/officials/practices/equipment/and new style jersey for player to
keep). We are also going to attempt to do some simple fundraising to help
get the costs down even more if possible. The
arena football season will be much more focused and intense than the fall
football season. We truly want to see kids that have a desire to be there
and to play football. The competition will be stiffer than what we play
in the fall and I guarantee that every child who plays in the Arena League will
be a better football player in fall. That is the main goal of why we are
doing this, and we are setting up a coaching system that will make this goal
happen. Please
reply to me (joe.kirsch@watchgamefilm.com)
and RSVP which tryout date your child can make so that we can get
an idea of the numbers. Please include your child’s full name along with
his birth date and weight. If you have questions, please feel free to
contact me. Again,
sorry for this message getting out so late, however, this is a brand new league
to us. It required us to identify coaches, practice field availability,
costs and rules, etc. We now have a plan in place and we are ready to
jump in and play some spring, full-contact football! Joe
