Consider Being a Sponsor for the Softball Website!

In addition to needing team sponsors, I'm looking for local companies that are willing to sponsor this softball website.  I'd like for this to be a win/win for both parties.  The money raised will go towards funding softball programs such as clinics for the girls and coaching materials for our coaches.  The sponsors will have their name and logo posted at the top and will be able to link us to their own website.  One possibility would be to post a coupon to draw customers to their establishment.  We had well over 2,000 hits on this new website during the Fall season and over 3,000 hits so far this season.  Please contact me for more information.

Send me pictures of Hoppers Game, Team Pictures, Parties, Etc..
This website has a picture/scrapbook section that is accessed by clicking on the "photo" tab at the top of this website.  I'd like to compile pictures taken by parents and players from games, parties, clinics, etc. to display for all SRA members to see.  I will be password protecting this tab to keep non-SRA members from viewing this section.  The password will be given out in email form to just our members.  Feel free to email me pictures at relangston@aol.com.  I'll try to post as many as I can.  Be sure to let me know which team the picture is associated with and I'll keep them organized by team or event.

Video Training Drills
Here is a batting drill that coaches can use at practice or parents can use with their girls at home.  We ran a similar drill in the batting clinic last Fall  run by Shaina Ervin.  This is a great drill to strengthen your wrists and forearms.  You will need a tee for this drill.  Click on

SRA Logo Competition Winner-Jay Hill
Congratulations to Jay Hill for coming up with the winning logo.  We have several options to use with his idea.  Thank you to everyone who participated in our logo competition.  It was evident that you put a lot of time and effort into your work.  The response was incredible.  We had over 26 different logos submitted!  Thanks again for making this a successful event!

SRA Family Fun Night at the Hopper's Game
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who purchased tickets and participated in our first annual SRA “Family Fun Day at the Hopper’s Game”.  As a group, SRA sold over 1,250 tickets and raised over $3,100 to go towards an additional batting cage for our kids.  I hope everyone had a great evening!  Thanks again for making this such a successful fundraiser.

Softball Skills Clinic
Thank you to everyone who helped make our first Spring Softball Skills Clinic a success.  We had almost 80 girls participate.  Hopefully, they left with more knowledge and skills than when they arrived.  I know I did!  Erica Brown did a great job with our girls.

Without the help of our Website Sponsors, we would not have been able to charge just $2 per girl and the participation would have been much lower.  Please take the time to thank these sponsors and when possible utilize their services.

There are more events being planned including a Speed and Conditioning Program.  Keep your eyes open for more information.  If you're interested in talking with Erica Brown for private lessons, let me know and I'll get you in touch with her.

Pitching Lessons
Starting the first of January, pitching lessons will be held on Sundays either on the Summerfield softball field or in the Summerfield gym.  I need to know by Wednesday of any particular week if you're interested in your daughter participating.  I only have the gym available on Sundays until 1:15.

The cost is $15 a lesson and is restricted to four people participating in each time slot.  I need to know who is interested by Wednesday to figure out times to fit everyone in.  On nice days, we have the flexibility of working outside later than 1:15.  Someone will need to be there to catch with your daughter.  You can contact me at relangston@aol.com.

SRA Softball Sponsors
A special thanks to all of our Team Sponsors for the Spring 2009 season.  Your support for our girls and the softball program is much appreciated.

Summerfield Rain Line 643-2117
Every effort will be made to update the rain line and this web site by 5pm on game day.  However, it is often necessary to make weather/field playability decisions at game time at the field.  Unless otherwise notified, please assume the game is being played as scheduled.  Rain out games will be made up the following Wednesday for Monday/Tuesday rain outs and Saturday for Thursday/Friday rain outs and will be posted on this web site.

This rain line only covers games being played at Summerfield.  Each community determines if games are to be played at own their field.  The Field Director will make the decision and will contact the individual coaches that are affected.  I will try to update this website concerning game cancellations and make up games at the other communities as information becomes available.
