Congratulations to the 12U Shaw Park Thunder for winning the Triple Crown Slugfest Gold Bracket championship! The boys battled all weekend going 1-1 in pool play securing the 14th seed in the Gold championship bracket.
Playing the underdog role the Thunder won all 4 bracket games winning (2) of the games in extra innings to get a birth in the championship game against the Gainesville Braves on Sunday night. Down 2-1 in the top of the 6th the Thunder rallied with a 2 run HR to take the lead before shutting the door on the Braves in the bottom of the inning to secure the victory.
With the tournament victory the Thunder finished 1st out of 44 teams and have earned a berth in the Triple Crown world series in July. Way to go Thunder!!
The primary focus of our program is to further the development of sound baseball fundamentals through hard work, discipline, positive attitudes and a team first approach. We want to build a competitive team that is respectful and representative of a “one for all and all for one” atmosphere. We plan to teach sound fundamental baseball skills leveraging experienced coaching and professional instruction programs during the “offseason”. Family atmosphere is equally important as the sacrifice of time and effort extends beyond the players and into their parents and siblings.
What is the time commitment?
We will begin in the fall with limited practice/training and selective scrimmages. During the winter months we are planning to setup professional led training and conditioning programs. The spring season will consist primarily of league play with a limit of 5 to 6 local tournaments spread throughout the spring season until school year ends. We anticipate 50-60 games over the course of the season starting out at AA level with the goal of competing at AAA level as the season progresses. Our end of year destination will Cooperstown, NY!! Our goal is to provide an instructive, competitive and rewarding baseball experience for our players and families while maintaining a reasonable commitment of time and money.
