Round Rock Rumble, April 10 - 11, 2010
Bombers drop their 1st game on a Sunday for the first time this season The Bombers traveled to Round Rock..well, actually Taylor...this past weekend and participated in their largest tournament to date - The Round Rock Rumble. They opened pool play on Saturday with a match against Lights Out. The Bombers took an early 3-0 lead, but could not hold off Lights Out and settled for a 3-3 tie. Saturday's 2nd game opponent was the Texas Tornadoes. After falling behind 5-2, the Bombers rallied for 5 late runs and held on to win by a final score of 7-6. The tie and win kept the Bombers undefeated on Saturdays this Spring and earned the Bombers the #4 seed heading into Championship play.
On Sunday, the Bombers faced the S.A. Wildcats in a quarter-final matchup. It was a very well-played and hard fought game with each team getting good pitching and playing sharp defense. In the end though, it was the Wildcats who rallied for a couple of late runs to defeat the Bombers by the score of 4-3. It was the first time in five tournaments this spring, and the first time since last March, that the Bombers failed to win at least one game on a Sunday.
The Bombers will lace up the cleats once again this coming weekend and play in the Take-it-Yard Classic in Boerne.
