Exert from the Modesto Bee (July 25, 2009)...WALNUT — The Bel Passi Bronco-11 All Stars beat West Covina 10-6 on Friday, leaving them one win away from a berth in the Pony League World Series next week in Chesterfield, Va. P.J. Wilson had two triples and was part of four double plays turned by Bel Passi. Grant Williams was the winning pitcher. Bel Passi will play the winner of the Simi Valley-Walnut game for a berth in the Pony League World Series.
(NOTE: While most of this information is correct, Bel Passi is actually 2 wins away from a bid to the world series. Beating Walnut today would mean moving into the championship game on Sunday for the possibility of advancing to the world series in Virginia.)

Two home runs by Jack Large and another by winning pitcher Travis Vander Molen highlighted the Bel Passi Bronco-11 all-stars' 12-2 win over Spokane, Wash., on Thursday in the first round of the West Zone Championship. The winner of the eight-team tournament in Walnut will advance to the Pony League World Series next month. The Bel Passi Bronco-11 all-stars, winners of both sectional and regional titles, will meet Spokane, Wash., in the first round of the eight-team West Zone Championship on Thursday at 5 p.m. in Walnut. If it wins the tournament, Bel Passi -- the Northern California representative -- will advance to the Pony League World Series in Chesterfield, Va., July 29-Aug. 1. Local all-stars, who reached the West Zone level last year, have gone 6-0 en route to their sectional and regional crowns, including a 10-0 win over Elk Grove in the regional final last weekend in San Pablo. The team is coached by Mike Vander Molen and assistants Eric and Gary Lytle. ...
