Bellport Braves: Team Rules
Bellport Braves Youth Baseball Organization is a group of very dedicated and knowledgeable coaches. All players making the jump to play travel baseball, it must be exclusively. The following rules are for everyone. We must adhere to these rules. Remember there are no exceptions.
Bellport Braves are expected to participate in at least two, possible all three travel league seasons (spring, summer and fall leagues are available). Winter workouts in school gym and also at All Pro Sports are a must. A significant commitment of time and money is expected. If you have a problem with this commitment please let me know now before it becomes a problem in the future.
1. All players with Bellport Braves are exclusive (Braves must come first). No Second Teams. Anyone caught playing on two teams no longer is a member of the Bellport Braves
2. Every effort must be made to attend all practices, playing time could depend on amount of practice time and effort put into improving. (Remember we are playing some of the best travel teams in the area, we just can't walk out there and expect to compete without practice.)
The only viable excuses for missing practices are Religious instruction, family illness, player illness and very few other exceptions. It is not fare to the other boys if missing practice is a regular occurrence.
3. Any other sports that conflict must come second to baseball, the only exception made is for fall, where I make exceptions for Football, Soccer, and Lacrosse etc. Although it is not an excuse for missing practice or a game.
4. Absolutely No eating in the dugout before and during games.
5. Uniforms must be worn during games. Red cleats or turfs must be worn.
6. Website must be checked regularly for changes to games and/or Practice schedule.

7. Check your e-mail on a regular basis and please acknowledge all e-mails when you receive them. (We do not want to make unnecessary calls if we do not have to.
8. If for any reason you will not be able to attend a practice, scheduled game or Tournament please let me know in advance so that other arrangements can be made. (Tournaments cost a significant amount of money to enter and we want 100% attendance if possible).
9. You must participate in all fund raising activities that we get involved in. (The more money we raise the less the total cost per player will be per season.
10. Please do not confront the coaches with any problems that may arise during a game. Hold them for prior to or after any practices. You may also call 24 hours after any game. Coach’s will be happy to address any concerns you may have.
11. Playing time and positions are at the discretion of the coaches. Playing time and positions are earned by attending practices, working hard and of course pure talent. (If a player is used to being in a certain position on the field or Batting order that can change here with the Braves). You all see what the coaching staff sees. You have to stop being a parent and start understanding its about the team.
12. Any problems that might occur between players should be brought to the attention of any of the coaches immediately.
13. All players will be required to re-tryout after each calendar year. Spots are never guaranteed. Although returning players will get first priority and consideration over any new players trying out.
14. No parent can be coaching from the sidelines (not even if it is directed to their own child). If so parents will be asked to leave the area. No parent is to question or argue a call from an umpire (ever). No parent should ever question a decision or a move made by any member of the coaching staff. If so parents will be asked to leave the area. Continued issues from the same parent will lead to termination of the player without refund. Any concerns you may have should be discussed with the coach and only the coach (one on one). Not in a group or team setting and not with other parents.
