Eagles Season Ends![]() The Brentwood Eagles saw their season come to an end at the hands of Valle Catholic in yesterday's district semi-final. The Eagles were limited to just one hit and lost the game by a score of 10-0.
The Eagles end their season, barring any make-up games, at 12-9. They finished in second place in the conference with a 7-2 record! Overall, it was a super season. Our thanks to all of our loyal supporters and we wish our seniors well. We couldn't ask for a better effort from our boys.
Don't forget to attend our Team Picnic on Tuesday, May 26. We start at 5:30 pm at the High School. See you then.
In what can only be described as a heart-stopper, the Eagles rallied from a 3-0 deficit to defeat Valley Park 4-3 last night at Brentwood Park. Valley Park scored a run in each of the first three innings and seemed to have Brentwood on the ropes. But the Eagles came up with three runs in the third inning to tie things up and then won it in the bottom of the seventh on a clutch double by Ryan Marshall.
Adam Kobler, pitched a masterpiece as his record moved to 6-0. Kobler allowed only three singles and no earned runs, while striking out seventeen Hawks batters. Brentwood has now won four games in a row and are 12-8 for the season, a high water mark!
The "never say die" Eagles move on to face first seed, Valle Catholic in a semi-final contest today, 4:30 pm, at Brentwood Park. Kevin Smith will get the ball in today's game.
EAGLES BEGIN DISTRICT PLAY![]() Fourth-seeded Brentwood, 11-8, squares off against Valley Park, 6-11, in round one of the class 2, district 4 playoffs. In what could be his final appearance in an Eagle uniform, Senior Adam Kobler will take his perfect 5-0 record into today's game. Kobler,m who leads conference pitchers in almost every category, will pose a big threat the the Hawks, who split two games with Brenwood earlier this season. The winner advances to play 1st seed, Valle Catholic tomorrow. Game time today is 7:30 pm.
The Brentwood Eagles continued their late-season surge with a convincing doubleheader sweep over conference foe Bayless yesterday.
In game one, Adam Kobler improved to 5-0 as the Eagles pounded out 10 hits and breezed to a 13-0 win. Kobler allowed only two hits, while striking out ten batters and walking none.
In the nightcap, Kevin Smith took a perfect game into the 6th inning and settled for a nifty four-hitter as Brentwood won 7-1. Smith improved to 4-2, striking out eleven and walking one along the way.
Brentwood hit their high-watermark in victories with 11 and improved to 7-2 in Conference play. They've gone on an impressive 9-2 run since getting off to a rocky 2-6 start. Superb pitching, timely hitting and a stout defense have been the hallmark of this team all season. Coupled with a "never say die" attitude, this young Brentwood Eagles ball club has certainly shown that hard work and perseverence pay huge dividends!
The Eagles have clinched second place in the SCAA and have an outside chance to tie for the league title with Hancock. Next up is a 3:30 district playoff game against Valley Park this Saturday at Brentwood Park.
Eagles Rebound Against Jennings![]() It took some rescue pitching from Tommy Lynch and a shutdown 7th inning by Adam Kobler, as the Eagles defeated Jennings 8-4 on Monday. Lynch relieved starter Ryan Jones with one out in the 4th inning and notched his first win of the season. Lynch allowed only one hit and one run in his 2 2/3 innings of sparkling relief. Adam Kobler closed the game by striking out the side in the 7th inning.
Next up, a conference doubleheader at home against Bayless. Game time is 4:00 pm.
Maplewood Rained Out
Friday's game vs Maplewood was rained out. A make-up date has not been determined. Stay tuned!
Mistakes Cost Brentwood![]() Errors in the field and mistakes on the basepaths proved too much to overcome as Brentwood fell to Kennedy 10-8 yesterday. The Eagles bolted to a 6-0 lead, but couldn't hold on as there record fell to 8-8. Next up is a conference game with Maplewood at today at Brentwood Park. Game time is 4:15 pm.
